Preparation

As per the Preparation instructions on the Administration:Preparartion for upgrades page.

Upgrade Day 1: Backup

Note: There is no downtime on mailing services on day 1, however the users will not be able to change their properties such as vacation replies, passwords etc. In addition administrators will not be able to add / delete users and change user properties.

  • Take a backup of the Mail Server as per steps in the Preparation for Upgrades topic.
  • Take a backup of the Relay Server as per steps in the Preparation for Upgrades topic.
  • Copy the installables of the new MCS version to the Mail and Relay Server.

Upgrade Day 2: Upgrade the MCS version

Note: Downtime required approximately 5-6 hours. The downtime is determined by the number of users in the LDAP of the server being updated. The 5-6 hours downtime assumes not more that 2000 users.
