Configure a calendar account on an Android device

Setup your Calendar account to access your calendar and share with your colleagues by configuring a third party application available on Google play store.

Set up a Calendar on Android using DAVdroid in 4 simple steps

Step 1: Install DAVdroid Application

Install DAVdroid an Android CalDAV Client from the Google Play Store.

Steps mentioned in this document are tested with DAVdroid app version 8.1.4.

Step 2: Go to Add Account screen

Go to the Home screen and tap the DAVdroid application.

Tap the Add account icon.

On the next screen, choose the Login with URL and user name option.

Step 3: Provide account information

  • URL: Enter server name URL of the ConnectXf server.
SkyConnect Trial Account user :
Provide the server name as mail.mithiskyconnect.com
ConnectXf User:
Provide the server name in the format <domain>.mithiskyconnect.com
Example: acmecorp.mithiskyconnect.com
Refer the topic to know
  • In the User name box, enter your complete email id.
If you are using Mithi SkyConnect Trial account, provide user id which you have received in the Welcome Mail.
  • Provide Password associated with your account.
If you are using Mithi SkyConnect Trial account, provide Password which you have received in the mail by the Mithi Team.
  • Choose the Next option to proceed.

Application verifies the settings provided and displays all the calendar accounts to sync which includes the subscribed and shared calendars to view events from.

Step 4: Customize and save the account

Select the required calendars to sync with your mobile.

Application populates the user id you have provided in the previous screen.
Do not change the email-id. Tap Add Account to save your account.

View events from the calendar account

To view events:

From the Home screen, launch the calendar application / SPlanner to view events on your mobile.

Add an event using mobile

Following procedure helps you to add an event to the calendar account on the Connect Xf server using your mobile.

You can set alarms to for the these upcoming events to receive Pop-up or email alerts. You can receive email alerts for the upcoming events and meetings if the calendar alarm service on your server is on.

To add an event

1. Tap the + New Event on the calendar screen.

2. Choose the calendar on the server.

3. Provide required details

4. Tap the Save option to complete the process. As the account is configured for two-way-sync, you can see this event from your desktop or web client as well.

This way, you too can access and manage your calendar on the Connect Xf server using android device.

Note: From Baya version 3.20, all the participants (contacts on same/external domain) get email invite/update when you schedule/update a meeting using any mobile/desktop client

All the attendees on same domain receive invites in the Inbox folder of the calendar application.

Remove the account

1. Go to the Settings screen

2. Scroll down to the Accounts section

3. Tap the account which needs to be removed from the device.

5. Tap the Remove Account option.

6. Tap the Remove Account button to confirm deletion.

Troubleshooting

What is the server name of my server?

SkyConnect Trial Account User

If you are evaluating the mithiskyconnect.com domain the URL or server name used for accessing any application (POP, IMAP, SMTP, LDAP, XMPP, CalDAV) is mail.mithiskyconnect.com

Hosted Users

For all hosted users the URL or server name is <domain>.mithiskyconnect.com .

In Premise Users

Please contact administrator to find out the exact URL.

Can I use IP address of the server instead of server name URL?

It is NOT RECOMMENDED to use IP address of the server. As IP addresses are not permanent and may change in the future.

So, please contact to the administrator if you do not know the URL of your server.


Unable to configure your account? Connection Error?

Are you connecting to the server over SSL?

1. You must have SSL certificate installed/enabled on your server.

2. By default, CalDAV connects to the server over SSL using the port number 443.
If it is not open for connection and blocked in the Firewall, connection error occurs and configuration fails.

Please contact your admin to check if there is not a port issue.

Are you connecting to the server without using SSL?

By default, for plain connection that is without using SSL CalDAV uses the port number 80.
If it is not open for connection and blocked in the Firewall, connection error occurs and configuration fails.

Please contact your admin to check if there is not a port issue.

How to improve battery life of my mobile?

There are various factors which affects the battery life of mobile devices.
This topic gives you few options to save the battery and some links on internet where you can find more tips on saving battery of your mobile.

1. Disable the auto-sync option for a specific/ all the accounts configured on your mobile

Prevent your phone from unnecessarily syncing data by disabling auto-sync option for specific or all the accounts configured on your mobile.
For example, Google account configured on your mobile is set to sync automatically by default. These accounts keep syncing in the background continuously and eating your mobile battery without your knowledge. So, if not required you can disable the auto-sync option and prefer to sync the account manually.

Keep in mind if you turn off the auto-sync option,

  • Your apps won't automatically refresh with recent information and you won't get notifications about updates.
  • You need to sync your data manually only when you want to.


To disable auto-sync option:

On devices running Android 5.0 and up

i. On your mobile device, open Settings.
ii. Under Personal tap Accounts.
iii. In the top-right corner, tap menu More.
iv. Check or uncheck Auto-sync data.


On devices running Android 4.4. and below

i. On your mobile device, open Settings.
ii. Under Wireless & networks, tap Data usage.
iii. In the top-right corner, tap menu More.
iv. Check or uncheck Auto-sync data.

2. Configure settings in your email/calendar account so that Android will fetch data less frequently

If you choose to fetch data for every 15 minutes, Android will wake up every 15 minutes for that. This could affect the battery life of the your mobile. So, you can increase the battery life by choosing appropriate time period to fetch the data from server.

Set up a Calendar using CalDAV-Sync application in 6 simple steps

Step 1: Install CalDAV Application

Install CalDAV-Sync an Android CalDAV Client from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Go to Add account screen

Go to the Home screen and tap the CalDAV-Sync application.

Then, choose the Create new account option which displays the Add Caldav account screen.

Step 3: Provide account information

  • Server: Enter server name URL of the ConnectXf server.
SkyConnect Trial Account user :
Provide the server name as mail.mithiskyconnect.com
ConnectXf User:
Provide the server name in the format <domain>.mithiskyconnect.com

Step 4: Customize the account settings

Select the required calendars to sync with your mobile.

If required, you can press and hold the calendar for a while to edit its name or the color to display.

Step 5: Finish the configuration

  • Make sure the email address populated by the application is correct.
  • Keep the Sync from server to phone only check-box deselected. So as to configure the account for two-way-sync.
  • Tap the Finish option to complete the set up.

Step 6: Save the account

Tap DONE to exit the setup.

View events from the calendar account

You can use the native calendar or the planner application on your mobile to view the events from the account.

To view events:

1. From the Home screen, choose the calendar application. You can change the calendar-view to display events on your mobile.

What is the server name of my server?
