I am unable to view .mht attachments properly via the Thunderbird client or the Baya client of Connect Xf

Symptoms

  • You have received an email with a .mht' attachment and that is nor properly visible when you click to open it.

Behavior of Attachments in Email clients

Normally when you receive attachments with email, you would use the native application suitable for that attachment file to open/view the information.

E.g. .doc files are normally viewed with Open office or MS Word .xls files are normally viewed with Open office or MS Excel .mht files are normally viewed in Internet Explorer

While working with attachments, it is useful to note that the email platform is simply a carrier of the information. Neither is it responsible for creating the documents and neither is it responsible for viewing the documents. Typically it does no modification on the format during transit.

Recommendation

Hence if you experience problems while viewing the attachments, you may want to explore alternate viewers and/or approach the technical support of the respective client for help. You may find useful links if you are to search the Internet via Google.
