LDAP service does not start/hangs on restarting or after reboot

  • Kill the db_recover and slapd processes.
> pgrep -x db_recover | xargs kill -9
> pgrep -x slapd | xargs kill -9
  • If the ldap agent is currently running, kill it.
> pkill -9 -f agent_check_mcs_services.sh
  • Stop ldap if it has started running after the kill.
> /etc/init.d/ldap stop
  • Remove the index files of ldap from mithiconnect folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mithiconnect/__db.*"
  • Remove the lock file of ldap from mithiconnect folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mithiconnect/alock"
  • Remove the index files of ldap from mcs folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mcs/__db.*"
  • Remove the lock file of ldap from mcs folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mcs/alock"
  • Remove the index files of ldap from mithiBO folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mithiBO/__db.*"
  • Remove the lock file of ldap from mithiBO folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/mithiBO/alock"
  • Remove the index files of ldap from accesslog folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/accesslog/__db.*"
  • Remove the lock file of ldap from accesslog folder.
"> rm -f /var/lib/ldap/accesslog/alock"
  • Start ldap.
> /etc/init.d/ldap start
  • Test using /var/qmail/bin/qmail-ldaplookup -m postmaster@<DOMAIN>
  • If these steps dont work, restore the ldap from earlier backups.
