maillog and messages logs are blank

Symptoms

  • When tail the log it is not moving
  • The log size is 0

Cause

The syslog-ng service may not be responding

Solution

  • Restart the service
/etc/init.d/syslog-ng stop
/etc/init.d/syslog-ng start
  • Check if the logging is happening.
